In July 2008 Andreas Breiter was appointed professor for Applied Computer Science in Faculty 3 (Mathematics and Computer Science) of the University of Bremen. He is also head of the Institute for Information Management Bremen GmbH, a nonprofit research and advisory institute at the University of Bremen (www.ifib.de). 2004 to 2008 he held a Junior Professorship in the same field of research at the University of Bremen and spent four years as a research assistant working for the Telecommunications Research Group at the University of Bremen. In 2002 he was Visiting Scholar at the Columbia University in New York and at the Center for Children and Technology. After studying sociology, computer science and law at the JW Goethe University in Frankfurt / Main and at the University of Southampton, he was a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovations Research in Karlsruhe (1995-1997). Following this he worked as a researcher at the University of Bremen (1997-2000) and received his PhD in Applied Computer Science with a study on "IT Management in the Academy".
